Do you ebay?

Where have I been?? Well besides working a few hours each day at our small business due to this crazy economy...I have been busy ebaying a bunch of stuff(precious memorabilia) that we have stored and moved numerous times over the last 30 years and now realize that we don't want to be held hostage by stuff.

So...when hubby and I put away the Christmas boxes; we got down all the memorabilia boxes. Oh...we have a few of those. Do you have lots of memory boxes too? I had a couple for me...stuff from high school, our wedding, stuff from my room as a teenager, my 45rpm record collection (I don't have a record player any more so I don't know what I would do with them now anyway...however, Donny Osmond still makes my heart skip a beat!) and a couple for hubby~his football pads and helmet(gone to the dump), his refereeing uniform and jacket(it's a bit too small), GI Joes, boy scout stuff and what not. We actually condensed 10 plastic bins down to 4 bins. One each for the kids and one for the hubby and I. We have to keep a little something for the kids to go through one day! We asked our children if they wanted any of it and they said no, not really. So we threw a ton of stuff away and then...

It was to Ebay I went! I photographed, made a list, and posted all our precious stuff. Over 53 items we had on the original list. I cannot believe what some of our stuff that we thought was junk is worth and stuff we thought was worth something is NOT! I LOVE Ebay buyers. It has been a bit of work but I am so glad to ship it to someone and not just send it to the dump. So if you have some old stuff or new stuff laying around that you don't want, ebay is a great way to get rid of it and make a little cash on the side! Do you ebay?? How do you get rid of your stuff?

"S" makes me SMILE!

Kat over at Just a Beach Kat ssigned me the letter "S" in this fun Letter Game.

Here are the rules:  If you want to play, leave a comment on this post letting me know and I will assign you a letter.  You write about ten things that you love that begin with your assigned letter, post it at your place.  When people comment on your list, you give them a letter and the chain will continue.

So here are my "10" Favorite "S" things in no particular order:

1.  Smiles~I can't walk by someone and look them in the eye without smiling.  I love it when a child makes a lonely older person smile.  A smile lights our faces and those of others.  So smile when you go on with your day even though it may cause a few good wrinkles down the road.

2.  My Sisters~are very special to me.  I don't see them near as often as I'd like and have never lived near my sisters.

3.  Scripture~gives true meaning to my life.  I get my faith, my hope, the meaning of true love through the WORD of God found in the Holy Bible.  It is the best selling book of ALL time and continues to be relevant today and everyday.  This is the only book that you will find the true meaning of life in.

4.  Sweet Home Alabama~This is my favorite movie.  I don't watch alot of movies over and over again but this one I can.  Maybe it's the sweet tea???

5.  Spring Flowers~I love flowers and tulips are my favorite.  I always have to add some seasonal flowers to my yard each year.  It cheers me up and makes me SMILE!

6.  Scarves~I really like scarves and have bought a few.  I think Jessica Alba always looks great in her scarves.  If you like scarves too...join the  Year of the Scarf Bloggy Carnival on March 2nd at www.fiveofgreen.blogspot.com

7.  Spa Time!! I love a good facial or a massage.  I especially enjoy spa time with my daughter.

8.  Spice Cake~My mom always made spice cake with penuche (brown sugar) frosting.  It's still my favorite today!

9.  Sunset at the Beach~ Newport Beach is my favorite in So. California and the sunsets are to die for!

10.  Solitude~ My picture disappeared for this one...I love being with people, doing things for people but I need my alone time.  I love my quiet times...no tv, no one needing me, just me doing what I want without regard to time or necessity.  Guess that's why I like staying up late after everyone is asleep.  I get so much done, get organized and just enjoy reading, writing and of course blogging!!

Want to play??  If so, let me know in your comments and I'll assign you a letter.  Enjoy your weekend.   I am off to Arizona for a visit to mom, a baby shower for a friend, visits with my brother, my sister, the triplets, my dad and a special blog friend who I will reveal next week.

I Am Addicted....

to HAIRSPRAY!

Thanks to Karen's comment on my bag tag post I thought that I would confess I am addicted to hairspray.  Yes I am!  I work hard to have this fabulous flipped out volumnous hair!!  It wouldn't look that way if not for my very favorite friends for hair~~ Redken 10 Guts volume mouse which I spray in my hair at the roots after towel drying, then I let my hair air dry while I put on my face(that's a whole 'nother story!), then I blow dry upside down until almost dry(it gives volume!), then spray a little Big & Sexy Spray and Play hairspray under at the roots, then I blow dry with a round brush spraying the Shaper on each section, then if needed a little curling iron touch up(because I gotta have it all curling up) and then a little Big & Sexy to keep it all in place.  So there you have it.  So much spray that I don't need to carry it in my purse.

Recently I tried to use less spray and be free with my hair and this is the feedback I got:  My husband asked me if I was sick?? He's not used to a girl without her BIG hair and I do my hair everyday unless I am sick!  I should have been from Texas....they like their hair big and full of hairspray.    So I've heard. :)  Then my son asked me out right~~ "What did you do to your hair?"  AND without the hairspray....I am constantly moving my hair out of my face.  So... if I have to give it up...it's gonna take some getting used to for ALL of us.  For now, I confess I am addicted to my BIG and Sexy Hairspray and I'm not giving it up!!!

Bag Tag

Karen at Some Days are Diamonds is carrying on this bag tag.  Here are the rules:

1.  Post a picture of whatever bag/purse you are carrying right now.  No, you cannot go to your closet and pull out the cutest one you have.   I want to know what you carried today or the last time you left the house.  NO CHEATING!

2.  How much did it cost?   And this is not to judge.  It is for entertainment purposes only.  So, spill it.  And, if there is a story to go along with how you obtained it, I'd love to hear it.

3.  Tag some friends.  And link back to this post so people know why the heck you're showing everyone your bag!

OK...so come on and join in the fun!  Get going...now!!! And be honest!

My daughter loves shoes and I have grown to love purses.  It probably started a few years ago when my sister, Pat gave me one of her Kate Spade purses that I could not afford.  I really enjoyed that purse.  Thanks Pat!  This one is a Kathy Van Zeeland.  I love her purses and have a few of them.  See the cute charm keychain on the handle...she puts them on every purse.  You can use it as a key chain or just decoration or take it off if you don't like it.
The detail on her purses are fun...zippers, buckles, silver balls(can't think of what they are called) and the stitching.
Here's the inside.  I love a red purse too and just changed purses a few days ago and have my red wallet.  The Mickey/Minnie key chain is from my favorite triplets, Angela, Brie and Cassidy after we spent 2 days at Disneyland last year.  Gotta have gum for Bella and some lipstick/gloss.
So that's the story of this purse.  Oh, yea...it probably cost about $89.  I don't remember whether I got this one on sale...Macy's and Gottchalk's discount their purses regularly and I always check to see if I need/want anything.  I also shop Marshall's, Ross and TJ Maxx for purses now and I find them for 1/2 price there.  Such fun!  Can't wait to see yours!

Remember to link back and leave me a comment if you are playing along.

Rain

I love a rainy day!  That's probably because we don't have that many of them!  I really like to stay inside with my sweats on and drink a warm cup of coffee or tea and just relax the day away.  I didn't get to relax all day but am home now enjoying the warmth of our home and watching the rain from inside.  My son sent me the picture above today.  He is studying to be a graphic designer.  He is taking a photography class and loves it.  He will be interning with a commercial photographer who takes photos for magazines and books.  He is so excited and so am I!  I wish I could take the class with him.  Dustin continues to amaze us with his talent.  I love this stage of my life...seeing my children come into their own.  It's another blessing and gift from God that we get to enjoy.

Grandma's Happy!

Look who came to see me!
Bella and Dylan came by today to wish grandma a Happy Valentine's Day!  Bella brought me flowers and some candy.  How sweet is that?  We went out in the back yard and played for a little bit.  Dylan is walking now and he got to play outside for the first time.  He tasted the sand in the sand box, went down the slide with his big sister and ate a rock.  Gotta watch him like crazy!  I am a happy girl!

Happy Valentine's Day and more!

Happy Valentine's Day!
Happy Birthday Mom!

I went to tea last weekend which was a heart research fundraiser.
Here I am in this cute shop called the Cottage Rose with
Brenda, Linda and Jackie.
We had a wonderful tea lunch and the cute heart cookie on the heart plate was our dessert.
It was delightful.
Looking forward to a candlelight dinner with the hubby tonight.

What have you done to celebrate lately?

Happy Birthday Danielle!

My sweet daughter turned 27 today. How can that be??? She was such a sweet thing growing up and such a cutie. Today she is a beautiful woman, wife, mother and a great friend. She and her husband love the Lord and strive to live a godly life. Last night we had a nice dinner together with Nate's family in Rancho Santa Margarita. We ate at one of the restaurants featured on The Housewives of Orange County. We ate outside on the patio with the heaters keeping us warm. Happy Birthday Danielle! I love you so much and I'm so glad God gave me such a wonderful daughter!
