8 days to 5-0 and a Giveaway!

***I've decided to add an apron to the giveaway.  My mother-in-law makes the cutest aprons and I'm gonna have her make me one to give away.

In eight days, I will be 50!!  It's hard for me to believe.  I don't feel that old nor do I think of myself as that old.  I am really in denial BUT really it's JuST a NumBeR.  There really are signs all around me that I am aging.  I'm just not ready to believe it.  I feel a newness being this age.  I am in good health.   I am having a blast with my family and those darn cute grandbabies of mine.  Dwight and I are enjoying our freedom and have kept ourselves very busy with something happening all the time.  To celebrate with all my bloggy friends I thought I'd give you a present.  I am having my first give away.

My family on my mom's side is German and my grandma passed on many  great recipes which are ALL very high in calories but oh so yummy!  All of my aunts and uncles are good cooks and bakers.  We love dessert as much or more than the main meal.  I've always said...."forget dinner~~what's for dessert?"   We've published two cookbooks of family recipes from my grandma, my aunts and uncles and all the cousins.  I have TWO of the second edition to give away.  The drawing will end on my birthday, December 2nd at 11:59pm.  I will draw a winner the next day.  Leave me a comment for one entry and post my giveaway on your blog for another entry.  Good Luck...you will not be disappointed!

Hi, Connie! Thanks for stopping by & for following my blog. It's so nice to meet you. Hope you have a very Happy 50th Birthday next week. We have birthdays very close together, mine is the 6th & I'll be 52! So, I've already reached that milestone. You get used to it after a couple of years, but it is amazing sometimes...how did I get to be this age?! LOL

Come back & see me! Sign me up for the giveaway.

Yes, I truly hear what you're saying about the whole age thing. I turned 50 last year and quite frankly, I'M STILL IN SHOCK! Where did the time go and seriously, I feel 40 not 50! I felt that my 40's were the best years and thought that the 50's might be even better...but so far this year has been the worst. It can only get better!

Hope your big day is awesome and congratulations on reaching this milestone!

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Yeah...another chance to win a cookbook...but, I never win...still fun to try. Thanks for sharing your birthday with all of us. I'm on the downhill side to the big 50 myself and hubby hit is a couple of years ago.

Hey, I'm a grandmother too...except, I was feeling very young and decided he could call me GRANNY...what was I thinking?

Thanks again.

Oh my goodness, the countdown begins. I never was one to think much about birthdays, but my 50th was pretty nerve wracking for me! So I think I know what you're going through this last week. But like you I feel fortunate to have good health and be surrounded by people that I love and who love me. Enjoy your last week in your forties and look forward to 50!

Just wanted to wish you an early happy birthday.

I don't need to be entered into the contest. I don't cook much from a cookbook. If it's not in my head, I rarely cook it. Sad, I know maybe when my life circumstance changes, I'll be more creative but cooking for one right now, it comes straight from my head.

Thanks for being generous for YOUR birthday.

Happy Birthday, Connie,
I read Kim's post about your 50th birthday. Mine was 18 years ago. I don't cook anymore, but my husband loves the cooking shows and does most of the cooking. After having the last surgery on my neck in 1999 so many things happened that I just cannot seem to put a meal together.
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving and a great Birthday.

You are welcome to visit my blog anytime.
Blessings,
AliceE.

Hi Connie!!

I just stopped by to visit Jennifer, and I saw your cookbook contest. I'm stopping by to visit, but please don't enter me in the contest. Not that I don't like cookbooks, I do--but I very rarely cook these days and I want to give others that do a chance to win!!

As for turning 50, I did that just 5 years ago. I don't feel that age and now I'm facing the big 60 in 5 years. Hopefully, I won't feel that age either.

Beth
